Achievements
Our record of success is unmatched. The following cases and matters are representative of our track record.
We earned a $119 million Qui Tam recovery, one of the ten largest such awards in history. In addition, our attorneys achieved one of the largest whistleblower jury verdicts in Michigan history, and have counseled our business clients on how to avoid similar judgments.
We obtained Michigan Supreme Court decisions setting new precedent in W.T. Andrew v. Midstates Surety, 450 Mich 655, 545 N.W.2d 351 and Fera v. Village Plaza 396 Mich 639, 242 N.W. 2d 372.
We successfully appealed an unfair labor practice finding by the NLRB against an employer, stemming from its discharge of a union member for strike misconduct, refusal to reinstate striking employees, and refusal to bargain with the union, and recovered attorney fees for our client. E.W. Grobbel Sons, Inc. v NLRB, 1999 Fed App 0161P (6th Cir.).
We obtained one of the largest individual physician Qui Tam recoveries in the State based upon proof of improper in-office laboratory billings to Medicare.
We represented 300 plaintiffs in a class action resulting in a $1,800,000 settlement from a national credit-life insurance company for improper post-death underwriting.
We represent both sellers and purchasers, on a regular basis, in business sale transactions in the low to medium eight figures.
We are leaders in the health care legal sector, where we have successfully represented physicians in disputes with hospitals and licensing entities. Our attorneys are routinely quoted by specialty and trade journals in the areas in which we practice, including Part B News, Orthopedic Coders Pink Sheet, Corporate Crime Reporter, and others.
