FHWN Creates Health Care Reform Task Force

Health Reform initiatives, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and The Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 represent a massive change in the way health care in America will be provided and reimbursed, how access will be afforded and mandated, how employers and physicians will operate and how everyone will deal with health care for many years in the future.

Physicians and others in the health care industry, employers and employees and just, plain citizens will struggle with the substance and understanding of the initiatives, acts and regulations sure to be issued. Hasty, emotional or wrong decisions will have lasting effect and relying on those with less than full information can be costly.

Frank, Haron, Weiner & Navarro is experienced in all aspects of health care and employment legal representation and is and will be up to speed on all aspects of the health reform revolution. FHWN's attorneys are positioned to understand and take advantage of developments for clients in the health industry, of course, and for all other employers, employees and individuals with health reform questions about their rights, obligations, benefits and detriments in the coming years.

While FHWN continues to consider, develop and service all of its clients in the many areas that it has for 40 or more years, health reform is on the front page and requires the firm's most important attention.

To that end, FHWN has formed a task force to address each of the important areas of immediate concern, including: The time line for implementation of the recently passed acts, Electronic Health Records and HITECH (Contact: Sue Nolan and Maro Bush), Organizational and transactional and tax increases and incentives (Contact: J. Laevin Weiner, Michael Hamblin and Sue Nolan); Health Insurance Exchange development and implementation (Contact: Michael Hamblin); Employer and employee developments, mandates and handbook/notice requirements and amendments (Contact Melinda Balian and Michelle Bayer); Physician opportunities and requirements and other physician and medical personnel issues, such as Stark, regulation, credentialing, licensing and similar issues and modifications (Contact: Monica Navarro and Louis Szura) ), compliance and fraud and abuse (Contact: David Haron, Monica Navarro, Louis Szura, Mercedes Varasteh Dordeski and Maro Bush) and litigation concerns (Contact: Sidney Frank and Tamara Fraser).

FHWN has always strived to provide existing and potential clients with valuable resources, from its comprehensive webpage containing articles, news, and links to its timely articles on health care law at www.healthcarelawyerblog.com.  In addition, FHWN is developing ancillary businesses to consult with our clients, enhance their practices and businesses and answer questions in the above areas. Mercedes Dordeski Varasteh will coordinate these efforts and is our liaison to the media in the health reform area.
