Business/Corporate Law
Mr. Malott’s seven years of business experience between his undergraduate and law school graduations give him a unique perspective from which to advise corporate clients. Having the ability to see legal issues from clients’ viewpoints allows Mr. Malott to offer real, practical, and effective advice in an efficient manner.
He has provided business-law assistance in matters involving breach of contract; fraud in the inducement; business torts, including misappropriation of trade secrets; and employment law, representing both employers and employees.
Health Care Law
Recognizing that health care is ultimately a business, he views his health care practice as “business plus.” He acknowledges that providers need to have a positive balance sheet but that they need to do so within a stringent regulatory environment. Mr. Malott leverages his business experience with his coursework, research, and writing in health law to help clients achieve both goals.
Mr. Malott has provided health-law assistance in medical licensing matters, Medicare/Medicaid compliance and reimbursement issues, and ad hoc review committee hearings. He has also written on topics that affect practitioners’ bottom lines.
False Claims Act/Qui Tam
Mr. Malott is involved in the representation of Qui Tam whistleblowers in both state and federal False Claims Act litigation whereby he helps the taxpayers and governments recover fraudulently obtained monies.
