Whistleblower Law

Have you been harassed, demoted, retaliated against, or fired after reporting a violation of a law?

If so, you may have a whistleblower case.

Our firm regularly works with individuals who have been retaliated against by their employers or contractors after speaking out against or reporting dangerous safety violations, fraud, or other violations of state and federal law.  There are numerous state and federal laws designed to protect whistleblowers who report fraudulent or illegal conduct.  Many of these laws provide for reinstatement, back pay, or compensation for special damages.

For example:
An employee who is retaliated against after reporting a violation or a suspected violation of a Michigan state or municipal law, or federal law, to a public body may be protected under the Michigan Whistleblowers Protection Act.

An employee, contractor, or agent who is retaliated against in connection with reporting or investigating fraud against the federal government may be protected under the federal False Claims Act.

Am employee who opposes discrimination under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) may be protected by the Act's whistleblower statute.

If you think you may have a case, please contact one of our experienced attorneys at (248) 952-0400.  Please note that it is important to act promptly, since many whistleblower protection laws have statutes of limitation. This means that if you wait too long to file a lawsuit, you may lose your ability to do so. These statutes of limitation may be as short as 90 days, so you should act quickly so any rights you may have can be protected.
